What each page contains

Each page brings together two things: historical background on the ensemble, its singers and what sets its style apart, then the list of identified recordings with the singer, year and genre of each. The historical background is sourced and credited, never written from guesswork.

Why it matters at the milonga

Recognising an orchestra, its period and its singer is the basis of a coherent tanda. A 1937 D'Arienzo and a 1955 Pugliese are not danced the same way, and putting them back to back empties the floor. These pages help you see quickly what brings two recordings together, or what sets them apart.
